William (Bill) E. Bond, JR.

Bill, who is sometimes known as "Bubba" to his old friends, was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. His family has deep roots in Pensacola with the Spanish side of the family (Villar) settling in Pensacola around 1780 and the French side of the family (Roch) coming to Pensacola later around 1870.

Bill grew up fishing and hunting, mostly in Baldwin County. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1964 where he played baseball. He then graduated from Pensacola Junior College (now Pensacola State College) where he played on the baseball team. Bill then went to the University of Florida to pursue a pre-veterinary medicine degree (Animal Science) and graduated in 1968. Bill was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

After graduating from college, Bill entered the Navy Flight Program in Pensacola and, having completed flight school, was designated a Naval Flight Officer. His first duty station was in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Bill finished his Navy career aboard the USS America and was in the Gulf of Tonkin when the Vietnam War ended in early 1973.

After completing his military service, Bill got sidetracked from his plan to become a veterinarian and attended law school at Florida State University graduating in 1976, with honors. He returned to Pensacola and has practiced law there since that time. Bill is a senior partner in the law firm of Clark, Partington, Hart, Larry, Bond & Stackhouse which is a 40-lawyer firm with offices in Pensacola, Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, Tallahassee, and Orange Beach.

For many years, Bill had a working farm and spent as much of his free time as possible hunting quail and dove, fishing, and riding his Tennessee walking horses. About nine years ago, Bill and his wife of 21 years, Lani, decided to give up their horses and living in the country and built a house in Pensacola. During this time, they acquired a lot on Roberts Bayou without really knowing what they planned to do with it. Bill and Lani had previously had many visits to one of his law partner's cottages on Perdido Bay off Spring Branch Road. About eight years ago, Bill and Lani built a home on their Roberts Bayou lot with the intention of spending long weekends there. One day they realized that they had only spent three days out of 10 months in their Pensacola home and decided to sell their Pensacola home. They have never regretted this decision.

Bill still enjoys hunting and is a member of the Burnt Corn Hunting Club. He still shoots dove as often as possible in Baldwin County, Florida. Lani and Bill enjoy daily walks on Spring Branch Road and are always up for a game of dominos with friends. They enjoy fishing together as well.

Bill has two sons from a prior marriage, Web and Watts. Web lives in San Francisco with his wife, Lara. Both of them work in the wine industry. Watts and his wife, Karen, live in Atlanta, Georgia where he works with Wells Fargo as an investment advisor. They have three children, Roswell, Wilder, and Dabney. Lani has a son from a previous marriage, Marshall Sims, who is completing graduate studies at the University of Alabama in civil and construction engineering.
